A weekly routine for freelancers who let agents do the busywork
Agents handle the repetitive parts, but a short weekly check keeps them useful. A fifteen-minute routine that works.
Setting an agent up and forgetting it works for about a week. A short, regular check keeps it aligned with the work you actually want. Here is a routine that takes about fifteen minutes.
Monday: review the queue
Open Approvals and go through anything waiting. Approve the good ones, edit the almost-good ones and reject the rest. Note what you keep changing; that is a setting or an instruction to fix.
Midweek: read the log
Skim the last few runs. Look for runs that found nothing, for repeated skips of jobs you would have wanted, and for token use that looks high.
Friday: tune one thing
Change a single setting based on what you saw, such as a keyword, a filter or the bid discount. One change at a time makes it obvious what helped.
Once a month: refresh your background
Update the agent's description of you with new projects, a new rate or work you no longer want. It is the cheapest improvement available, because every draft uses it.
Keep a short list
- Proposals sent and replies received.
- Which keyword produced each reply.
- One idea to test next week.
